O Authentic Jazz Dance, abreviado para
Authentic Jazz, tem como raizes as danças Afro-Americanas surgidas nos finais
de 1800. A modalidade teve o seu auge a partir de 1920, na época das Big Bands,
tendo contado com alguns grandes nomes como Albert ’Al’ Minns e Leon James para
a sua divulgação internacional. Pode ser dançado a pares ou a Solo e inclui
passos do Charleston e outros que lembram um pouco o Sapateado. Usa-se o
termo Authentic Jazz por constituir as raízes do Jazz, diferenciando-se
bastante de danças Jazz modernas como a dança Contemporânea e
o Ballet.
Pedro Vieira,
nascido em Lisboa em 1995, reside no Porto desde
2004. Iniciou-se nas danças Swing em 2012, recebendo formação na
escola de danças vintage SwingStation. Começou a dar aulas de Lindy Hop durante
o ano de 2013 e de Authentic Jazz em 2014, dando atualmente aulas de ambas
as modalidades na escola Hop Dance Studio. Participou em festivais de
dança em Portugal e Espanha, tendo sido convidado para dar aulas de Lindy Hop
em festival internacional na Polónia.

Authentic Jazz Dance, abbreviated to Authentic Jazz, is
rooted in African-American dances that emerged in the late 1800s. The style
took off in 1920, at the time of the Big Bands, with some great names like
Albert ' Al 'Minns and Leon James for its international release. It can be
danced in pairs or solo and includes steps from the Charleston and others that
resemble the Tapping. Authentic Jazz is used because it constitutes the roots
of the Jazz, being different enough of modern Jazz dances like the Contemporary
dance and the Ballet.
Pedro Vieira, born in Lisbon in 1995, lives in Oporto since
2004. He started at Swing dances in 2012, receiving training at SwingStation
vintage dance school. She started teaching Lindy Hop in 2013 and Authentic Jazz
in 2014, giving classes at Hop Dance Studio. She has participated in dance
festivals in Portugal and Spain and has been invited to teach Lindy Hop at an
international festival in Poland.
